The 108th running of the Indy 500 took place recently, with Joseph Newgarden grabbing top honors with another first-place finish for Chevy. Chevy led the pack in a few other ways as well, with the Chevy Corvette E-Ray serving as the official pace car.

Now, we’re sitting in the cockpit as the C8 E-Ray takes a lap around the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A recent viral video posted by the Team Chevy Instagram feed offers a unique perspective from the Corvette E-Ray pace car as it navigates the famed track.

The footage captures the banked curves and track-level sights usually reserved for racing drivers while also showcasing the Corvette E-Ray’s distinctive exhaust note. The Corvette E-Ray pace car features an Arctic White paint finish (color code G8G) and two-tone jet black and natural interior, with the exterior adorned by Indy 500 logos and carbon fiber wheels. Under the hood, the E-Ray mates the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine with
a front-mounted electric motor, generating a combined 655 horsepower.

The setup yields the quickest production-spec Vette to date, with the E-Ray capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. This year’s Indy 500 not only highlighted the E-Ray’s performance capabilities but also continued a long-standing tradition. Since 1978, a Vette has served as the
official pace car 21 times, cementing its legacy at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. had the honor of driving the E-Ray pace car for the 108th Indianapolis 500, adding a new chapter to his prestigious sports career.
