This is my first Corvette ever, although I have been preparing for it for a while.
Back in the day, I had a Dodge Viper Hennessey Venom 550. I absolutely loved that car. It was loud, fast, completely unnecessary, and had just enough rear-wheel-drive power to occasionally remind me that I was not, in fact, a professional
race car driver. 

One day, after giving in to the guy next to me who wanted to race, I ended up doing a few unplanned 360s, including one that gave oncoming traffic a much better look at the car than I intended. What is crazy was that while I was spinning toward them, my biggest concern somehow was not getting hit. It was, “Please don’t let me hit that curb and mess up my wheels.” That is when I realized two things: I needed all-wheel drive, and enough money that a little curb rash would not ruin my week.

So, when I sold the Viper 10 years ago, I told myself that someday I’d get an allwheel-drive sports car. Fast forward to this year, and I finally did. I bought a 2026 E-Ray because of the AWD, the performance, and a much nicer interior than the Viper. 9 My real dream car is the ZR1X, but since my bank account had a slightly different dream, I decided to do the next best thing and slowly turn my E-Ray into my own version of one. 

It is still a work in progress, but I am getting there. At this point, I love this car more than a grown man should. I feel like I am 16 again with a brand-new license. I am constantly asking my wife, “Do we need anything from the store?” And if the answer is no, sometimes I suddenly remember that we are dangerously low on something important. Like gum. Or batteries. Or one specific kind of mustard from a store twenty miles away. Sometimes I will even get all the way home before realizing I “forgot” something. It is amazing how unreliable my memory becomes when there is an E-Ray sitting in the garage. Anything to justify another drive!
