2027 Corvette Stingray’s New LS6 V8 Adds 45 HP But Barely Any Weight

Though it makes considerably more power than the old LT2, the LS6 V8 in the 2027
Corvette Stingray doesn’t add much weight at all.
We’ve known for quite a while now that the 2027 Corvette Stingray is getting a
brand new base engine (along with the revived Grand Sport) – the naturallyaspirated 6.7-liter LS6 V8, which churns out 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of
torque. That’s a notable power boost over the outgoing 6.2-liter LT2 V8, which
offered up as much as 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet. We’ve already been
provided with a slew of details about the new LS6 and what helps it make that sort
of impressive power, but the real question is – how much of a weight penalty does it
come with?
Now, we have the answer to that question, courtesy of an update to the 2027
Corvette Order Guide that was first discovered by Corvette Blogger. That update
provides us with dry weight specs for the 2027 Corvette Stingray and Grand Sport,
and those figures are a bit surprising, in a good way. In fact, the 2027 Corvette
Stingray coupe tips the scales at 3,392 pounds – a mere 26 more than the 2026
model’s 3,366 pounds, while the convertible weighs 3,491 pounds, or 24 more than
the LT2-equipped model at 3,467 pounds.

As for the LS6-equipped 2027 Corvette Grand Sport coupe, it weighs 3,520 pounds,
while the convertible comes in at 3,619 pounds. While it isn’t an apples-to-apples
comparison, per say, the Grand Sport X coupe is 26 pounds heavier than the E-Ray
it replaces, coming in at 3,800 pounds, while the convertible is 43 pounds heavier at
3,899 pounds. Otherwise, every other trim in the Corvette lineup remains
unchanged in terms of dry weight.
Given the fact that the LS6 provides a 45 horsepower and 55 pound-foot
advantage over the outgoing LT2, these few additional pounds certainly shouldn’t
hurt the Stingray’s performance – and in fact, we already know that it’s now the
cheapest new car one can buy that’s capable of hitting 200 miles-per-hour,
compared to the old car’s 194 mph top speed. The new car is also 0.1 of a second
faster to 60 mph, coming in at 2.8 clicks versus 2.9.
The 2027 Corvette Stingray is a bit more expensive than its predecessor – tacking on
another $1,000 to the 2026 model’s base price of $72,495, as it comes in at $73,495.
However, given the extra performance and glorious sound the new LS6 has to offer
– coupled with its impressive array of engineering – we imagine that shoppers won’t
mind paying just a bit more for the newer model.
